The Stuttgart Transport and Tariff Association (VVS) offers integrated and sustainable mobility from a single source for people in the Stuttgart region. Together with its partners, it makes a decisive contribution to securing and improving mobility in the Stuttgart metropolitan area.
The association's area covers the state capital Stuttgart and the five neighboring districts of Böblingen, Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg, and Rems-Murr, with a total area of just over 3,700 square kilometers and 2.8 million inhabitants.
With high-quality services, attractive fare offers and customer-friendly service, the VVS is attracting more and more passengers to public transport. The local transport system with buses, light rail and suburban trains has been expanded by the VVS together with the transport companies and public transport authorities to become one of the best in Germany. In addition, the polygoCard integrates supplementary mobility offers such as car sharing and rental bikes into the service. Customers have rewarded the continuously improved mobility offer: Passenger numbers have increased by 97 percent since the VVS was founded in 1978 to over 382 million annually today, almost twice as much as when the network was launched.
By signing the Diversity Charter, VVS is sending a clear signal for diversity and tolerance in the world of work and showing its appreciation of all employees regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and ideology, sexual orientation and social background.
The employer rating platform kununu has once again recognized VVS as a Top Company in 2025, as it did in 2024. Only just under five percent of all companies are awarded this seal every year. This makes VVS one of the companies with the best working environment in Germany. The award is based on independent employee ratings on the platform.
