HandyTicket

The easiest way to purchase your HandyTicket is via the VVS app. You can download the “VVS Mobil” app free of charge from the App Store and Google Play. VVS tickets are also available via the “DB Navigator” app.

The advantage: when you call up timetable information, you can also purchase your VVS ticket for the respective connection at the same time.

Please note: the mobile ticket (single ticket) is only valid for immediate travel. Cancellation or exchange is not possible.

The Germany Ticket subscription is available directly from VVS Mobil.

Other subscriptions are issued by the respective subscription centers of DB, SSB, IGP, and Abocenter Göppingen as electronic travel authorizations on polygoCard (chip cards).

You can order selected subscriptions as mobile tickets in the DB Navigator app. If you wish, you can convert an existing VVS subscription from the DB subscription center into a mobile ticket subscription in DB Navigator. To do so, please use the subscription management function at aboportal.bahn.de or contact your subscription center:

If you use the “VVS-Mobil” app, you can reset your password in the SSB customer portal or in the app itself. To do so, please go to the following page and then click on “Reset password” under the login dialog box.

VVS mobile tickets can be purchased in the VVS app via the “Tickets” – “Buy tickets” function by specifying the desired number of zones. The journey must always be started immediately.

We recommend that you remain logged into the app after purchase and throughout your journey, as poor mobile reception may otherwise cause problems when accessing your purchased ticket.

HandyTickets are non-transferable, as they are only valid when presented together with official photo ID. However, you can purchase additional HandyTickets in your name for fellow passengers. In the event of an inspection, simply present the tickets and indicate who your fellow passengers are.

Single tickets purchased using a cell phone are valid for a maximum of three hours, just like single tickets purchased from a ticket machine.

You can buy tickets for accompanying persons. However, you must ensure that you can show the mobile ticket for your fellow passenger during the entire journey in case of a ticket inspection.

For legal reasons, purchases cannot be made by persons under the age of 18 who are not legally competent using their cell phones when paying by direct debit or credit card. Single tickets for children can be purchased for children up to and including the age of 14 who are traveling with you.

VVS mobile tickets are only valid in conjunction with official photo ID.

Like any regular ticket, the VVS mobile ticket must be purchased before departure. This means that the purchase process must be successfully completed before boarding the vehicle—not just started—and the ticket must be ready to be presented immediately from the app. Passengers are responsible for ensuring that their mobile phones are in working order. Therefore, please always make sure that your battery is sufficiently charged.

No, the app only requires an internet connection during the purchase process. Once it has been fully loaded, the ticket remains stored locally in the app and can also be presented “offline,” e.g., in tunnel sections with poor reception. With the Germany Ticket, the ticket for the following month must be updated at the end of the month via an internet connection.

The barcode contains the ticket details in graphically encrypted form. The validity of the mobile ticket is always checked digitally via the barcode. In exceptional cases, tickets can also be checked by visual inspection.

Depending on local and network-dependent mobile phone conditions, it may take a few seconds for the ticket to load completely in the ticket memory and be accessible from there. Please wait until the purchase process is complete. If you have accidentally purchased a ticket twice, please contact SSB customer service.

In accordance with tariff regulations, VVS tickets always include the currently valid reduced VAT rate. Invoices showing the tax rate and amount separately are not issued in public transport.

The VVS mobile ticket is a sales channel managed by Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB). For data protection reasons, customer data is stored exclusively there.
